An aviation extravaganza featuring magnificent, colorful Hot Air Balloons that only the mind could imagine!  Enjoy the balloons as they take to the skies at dawn and in the afternoon in awesome mass ascensions followed by more balloons featuring top ranked competitors flying their balloons to compete in challenging tasks right before your eyes! Saturday evening, just as the sun goes down you will experience the breathtaking sight as the balloons stand inflated to glow like huge colorful orbs in the “Lite the Nite” balloon glow.

The Energizer Hot Hare Balloon will appear. He is always a huge attraction. The Bunny’s ears are the size of a normal balloon (8 stories tall). Bunny balloon is 15’ taller than the Statue of Liberty. His ears are the size of the presidents’ heads on Mr. Rushmore! The Mayflower balloon will also make its only north Texas appearance at the Summer Balloon Classic.

During the day be amazed by the Aviation Extravaganza featuring gliders, skydivers, helicopters, a variety of airplanes, military aircraft, Commemorative Air Force, radio control aircraft, kites and more, in static displays, demonstrations and flyovers! Some flights will be available to the public.

Wander through concessions of delicious foods, exhibits and displays and more! NASA will have a large interactive exhibit to celebrate the 50th year of the space program.

Bring the entire family! Something for every age! Bring the kids and introduce them to the vast wonderful world of aviation and show them how they can become involved!

The DFW Summer Balloon Classic is sponsored in part by Curves International, Re/Max of Texas, the Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau, Lite 103.7 FM, Dr Pepper and GEICO. Both Curves and Re/Max have a huge commitment to hot air ballooning and corporate balloon teams. Re/Max International has the largest corporate balloon fleet in the world, over 150 balloons!

The premise behind the DFW Summer Balloon Classic is to encourage young adults to become involved in aviation, thereby contributing to better future adults. By being involved in aviation, kids must obtain good grades, they can’t get into trouble or do drugs and they are involved with good mentors.
